RN, Clinical Staff Leader - NICU - Full Time, nights

Job Summary:The Clinical Staff Leader is a registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System and is responsible for the practice of nursing according to the rules and regulations defined by the state's Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger's Models of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care as assigned and for the supervision of other qualified staff to whom the nurse has delegated patient care in the exercise of his/her independent judgement. The nurse addresses physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of the patient and coordinates the plan of care with other healthcare professionals. The nurse is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. In addition, the nurse conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Erlanger Health System.The Clinical Staff Leader is responsible for managing all aspects of nursing responsibilities during each shift to include delegating nursing assignments, preparing schedules and staff assignments, overseeing patient flow to ensure patient acuity, clinical needs and prioritization of patient care is occurring, and assist with clinical care to support departmental functions, as needed.Education:Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).Experience:Required:Minimum of 2 years' clinical experience required.Evidence of leadership abilities required.Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills;Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations;Knowledge of current trends and new developments in area of specialty;and applicable knowledge of those areas requiring special education.Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/RegistrationRequired:Current licensure privileges to practice nursing in the state of employment.BLS completed prior to going to department/unit and maintained going forward.NRP and STABLE within 6 months of hire and maintained going forward.De-escalation training/certification within 1 year of hireSee unit for additional certification requirementsThe Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.Preferred: Nationally recognized certification in area of practice.Department Position Summary:Daily operations of unit when scheduled to include but not limited to:Quality/Safety:Maintains continuous updates to Visual Management BoardEnsures bedside reporting occurring dailyAccountable for HCAHPs initiatives are implementedExecute and ensure adherence appropriate bundles for CLABSI, CAUTI etc. are adhered toEnsure Hand Hygiene and other infection control practices are implemented and followed by staff and visitorsParticipates and leads committees and quality initiativesEnsure that the area is maintained according to established standards and guidelines at all timesAccountable for regulatory compliance and appropriately escalates problems relating to rules and regulations in a timely and effective manner.Service Excellence:Deescalate situations and implement service recoveryAccountable for unit specific metrics and tracks progress in meeting goals and objectives.People:Assist in recruitment and retention of staff on unitAssist with on boarding of new staff to the departmentFacilitate open and effective communication with ancillary departments and medical staffCommunicate areas of concerns appropriately to leadership and actively identify solutions for correctionAppropriate delegation of tasks based on skill level of individualIdentify clinical staff leaders and develop plan of action to assist in their growthCoach and counsel staff to enhance performanceConducts performance reviews in collaborative Department managementCollaborates with Director/Manager to facilitate monthly staff meetingsEducation:Facilitate appropriate orientation opportunities/experiences for new staffIdentify all education opportunities for self and staff membersAssist in the development of staff members by continuously reviewing the care they provide and offer constructive feedbackFinance:Manage productivity by flexing staffing based on census and acuityAnalyze adequate staffing for shift and next 24 hoursMonitors supply cost to maintain within budgetAdhere to established PAR levelsComplete Kronos per guidelinesUpdates daily schedule timely to reflect actual staffingMonitor time and attendance and take corrective action with staff not adhering to policyGrowth:Communicate effectively with all healthcare providers and service linesCommunity:Assist with community outreach programs and opportunities (i.e. Health Fairs, community events, etc.)Leadership:Demonstrates mastery of patient care, including assessment, treatment, care planning, patient education and evidence-based practice.Leads by example of good work habits and effective professional relationships.Actively embraces change emphasizing positive interactions.'281759
