This role goes beyond simple code conversion and requires the ability to analyze legacy business logic, understand complex system dependencies, validate functional equivalency, and help establish modernization frameworks that support long-term product growth. You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership, platform architects, and product teams to modernize core ERP functionality while ensuring operational continuity and software quality throughout the process.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and understand legacy COBOL applications, batch jobs, copybooks, file-processing workflows, and embedded business rulesDesign, develop, and maintain modern C#/NET solutions supporting ERP and payroll platformsParticipate in large-scale modernization efforts involving millions of lines of legacy application codeLeverage AI-assisted development tools and modernization techniques to accelerate code transformation and engineering productivityBuild automated testing frameworks, validation processes, and quality controls to ensure functional equivalency between legacy and modernized applicationsIdentify data dependencies, business process workflows, and integration requirements across ERP modulesCollaborate with architects and engineering leaders to define modernization strategies and technical roadmapsTroubleshoot and resolve complex application, database, and integration issuesDocument modernization approaches, business logic mappings, and technical design decisionsContribute to long-term platform scalability, maintainability, and technical debt reduction initiativesMentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the development organizationRequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field5+ years of software engineering experienceStrong hands-on experience with: C#, NET / NET Core, ASPNET, REST APIs, SQL Server, Object-Oriented DesignExperience analyzing and understanding legacy COBOL applicationsExperience working with enterprise-scale business applications, ERP systems, payroll systems, financial systems, or other highly transactional platformsExperience interpreting complex business rules and translating them into modern software architecturesExperience with application modernization, migration, refactoring, or legacy transformation initiativesStrong problem-solving, debugging, and systems analysis skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with: Genero 4JS, Legacy ERP platforms, Payroll systems, Financial systems, and Enterprise application modernization preferredExperience building automated testing frameworks and validation harnessesExperience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools in production environmentsExposure to agentic AI workflows, code generation frameworks, or AI-driven modernization initiativesExperience validating data integrity and functional equivalency during large-scale application migrationsExperience working with large, highly integrated codebasesAdditional InformationHybrid schedule (3 days onsite) Dallas / Plano, Texas area Candidates must be able to work onsite regularly and collaborate closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams BenefitsThis position offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and professional growth.
