Senior Technician Technical Support
* At this time, this position is open for internal candidates onlyPosition SummaryThe Senior Technician Technical Support is primarily responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of IT user support services, ensuring the college mission and vision are implemented within the confines of IT standards and operations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversees the design and implementation of the college's end user computing systems in collaboration with other IT staff and consultants, including the selection, purchasing, installation, and support of end user computing systems and software applications, and the evaluation of new hardware and software.Coordinates with the Campus Security Director to maintain ALERTUS emergency notification services and communication devices, as well as college security cameras and associated servers.Manages and provides end user support to the college, including workorder services; and coordinates with the Registrar on providing HelpDesk services.Supervises IT user support staff, including employee recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluation.Participates in IT management decisions including maintenance of IT standards, advising software and hardware configurations, network infrastructure installations, and enterprise servicesProvides the CIO budget recommendations for end user support servicesServes on campus committees, ensuring communication between departments regarding IT issuesServes as the acting CIO in his/her absences assigned and provides backup support to other IT staff as necessaryPosition Specifications and Minimum QualificationsEducation* Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of EducationExperience* Three years related experienceLicenses/Certifications* Must possess a valid Wyoming State Driver's License.Equivalency Statement* Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis.* Desired QualificationsMaster's degree in related fieldPrior supervisory experiencePrior experience in a higher education settingIndustry recognized certifications in server, network, application and/or user supportKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong working knowledge of server and microcomputer hardware and softwareStrong working knowledge of computer networks and networkingStrong troubleshooting and repair skillsEffective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skillsAbilities in the installation, configuration and support of desktop and server operating systems and application softwareAbility to supervise the work of othersAbility to prioritize needs and effectively control budgetsAbility to relate in a professional, helpful manner in person and over the phoneAbility to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completionAbility to effectively identify and resolve problemsAbility to work independently while supporting a team effortLevel of SupervisionWork is performed under limited supervision.Working Environment* Reasonable accommodation will be extended to otherwise qualified individuals with a legally recognized disability.Equipment Used* Personal computer, telephone, copier, calculator, pod phone, Smart Board, Smart Phone.Physical Requirements* Tasks require variety of physical activities which do not generally involve muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and light lifting.
