Lead Infrastructure Automation Engineer
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise infrastructure automation solutions in a highly critical environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader with deep experience developing Infrastructure as Code capabilities from the ground up using Python and Ansible. The ideal candidate will also bring strong technical expertise in Linux, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and REST APIs, along with the ability to mentor engineers, perform code reviews, and produce high-quality architecture and technical documentation. Familiarity with using AI to accelerate development and improve engineering efficiency is also desired.In This Role, You WillLead the design, development, and implementation of large-scale infrastructure automation solutions across critical enterprise environmentsDevelop and enhance Infrastructure as Code capabilities using Python and AnsibleCreate scalable automation frameworks and reusable engineering patterns to improve consistency, speed, and reliabilityDesign, code, test, debug, and document software and automation solutions supporting infrastructure servicesIntegrate automation workflows with enterprise platforms and services using REST APIsApply technical expertise in Linux, DNS, DHCP, and IPAM to support automation and infrastructure modernization initiativesReview and analyze complex technology solutions aligned to tactical and strategic business objectivesPerform code reviews, maintain engineering standards, and contribute to architecture and design documentationCollaborate with engineers, developers, and technical leaders across teams to resolve complex issues and deliver solutionsMentor and coach junior engineers and developers, supporting their technical growth and learning journeyEvaluate and adopt modern engineering practices, including the use of AI-assisted development tools, to improve delivery efficiency and code qualityLead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor across software engineering initiativesRequired Qualifications:5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education5+ years of experience in Python development5+ years of experience building Ansible-based automation solutions5+ years experience developing infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions from the ground up in a large-scale enterprise environment5+ years of Linux systems administration and engineering5+ years experience integrating systems and workflows through REST APIs5+ years experience performing code reviews, creating technical documentation, and contributing to architecture designsDesired QualificationsStrong understanding of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM technologiesExperience designing automation solutions for highly regulated or mission-critical enterprise environmentsExperience with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, or engineering workflowsStrong understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, CI/CD, and secure coding standardsExperience working across infrastructure and software engineering domains to deliver automation at scaleAbility to influence engineering standards, drive best practices, and lead through technical expertiseStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and skill levelsDemonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and support a collaborative engineering cultureJob Expectations:Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with engineers and developers of varying experience levelsWillingness to coach, mentor, and develop junior talentStrong commitment to engineering quality, operational stability, and documentation standardsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a complex enterprise technology environmentPay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position.
