Unit Clerk - SLH - CPH Main, Admin/Business Support (Full-Time, Days/Including Every Other Weekend) Under the supervision of the Director/Manager or delegate, assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring on the nursing unit by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.Responsibilities Performs various clerical duties related to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units. Establishes & maintains the patient record on the unit. Answers the telephone in a professional manner and directs calls to appropriate individuals and/or takes messages. Stock units with office supplies; prepares requisitions to maintain established inventories. Faxes and photocopies information as needed. Obtains supplies as requested by the nursing staff.Records information, such as physicians' orders and instructions, dietary requirements, and medication information, on patient charts and medical records, as needed.Adheres to HIPAA guidelines by accessing PHI in accordance with departmental assignmentWelcomes visitors, answers inquiries, gives directions and refers inquiries to nursing and physician staff as needed.Provides support and necessary information to nurses, providers, offices, etc.Arranges discharges/transfers by notifying patient transport services.Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and adhering to Infection Prevention PoliciesMay transport patients in wheelchair to locations within facilityUnion: 1199 - Service Maintenance and Clerical (CPH)Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligibleEducation:Licenses/Certifications:Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
