PL/SQL Developer

Overview In this role you will design, develop, and maintain data- and logic-intensive components supporting New York Life’s digital initiatives. You’ll work within a cross-functional team to optimize SQL, shell automation, and backend processes that empower business applications. The role blends PL/SQL expertise with automation and dev-ops collaboration to improve productivity and system reliability. This is a hybrid position in New York City, offering exposure to modern tooling and Generative AI-driven improvements. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications and data-driven componentsWrite clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practicesDevelop, enhance, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemasCreate, update, and maintain shell scripts for automation, deployment, and monitoringCollaborate with QA, DevOps, application production support, and product managementParticipate in code reviews and knowledge sharingTroubleshoot and resolve performance issuesEnsure code quality, security, and performance throughout the lifecycle Key requirements5+ years of professional PL/SQL experience (Oracle)Strong shell scripting experience (Bash, KornShell, or similar)Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software design patternsExperience with GitHub or similar version controlExposure to Linux/Unix environmentproblem solvingattention to detailteam collaborationPL/SQL (Oracle)SQL, stored procedures, database schemasshell scripting (Bash, KornShell)
