Lead Pump Mechanic
Job description:Qualifications5+ years of experience in industrial pump repair, rotating equipment repair, or a related mechanical fieldStrong working knowledge of centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, bearings, and shaft assembliesAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manualsProficiency using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicatorsExperience with alignment tools, hydraulic presses, and general shop equipmentStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to lead by example and assist in training or mentoring techniciansWelding, machining, or pipe fitting experience is considered a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift 50+ pounds with assistance when necessaryAbility to stand, bend, and work in an industrial shop environment for extended periodsComfortable working with mechanical equipment, hand tools, and shop machineryKey ResponsibilitiesInspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot centrifugal and industrial pumps for wear, leaks, vibration issues, and mechanical failuresDisassemble pumps and evaluate key components including impellers, shafts, bearings, wear rings, and mechanical sealsPerform repairs or replacements of mechanical components using precision measurement tools and shop equipmentReassemble pumps to proper tolerances, ensuring correct fits, alignment, and performance standardsLead and support pump repair technicians by providing technical guidance, training, and quality oversightCoordinate pump repairs with motor repair staff when working with combined pump/motor assembliesEnsure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company safety procedures and industry standardsMaintain accurate documentation of inspections, measurements, parts used, and repair proceduresAssist with job planning, estimating repair scope, and identifying replacement partsInspect completed repairs to ensure quality control before equipment is returned to the customerMaintain a clean, organized, and efficient work areaSupport continuous improvement efforts related to repair processes, efficiency, and shop workflow
