Distribution Manager

We are seeking an experienced distribution professional and manager to lead our Transportation Department and contribute to the achievement of the Company’s ambitious corporate plan. The Distribution Manager will be a highly capable manager assuming responsibility of all transportation/distribution operations. Your responsibilities include labor planning, fleet management, routing efficiencies, financial management, policy improvement, safety management, customer service, employee morale, staff development, and vendor management. The Distribution Manger will be an effective leader with strong knowledge in process improvement, cost saving initiatives, resource management, and metric management. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Logistics & Dispatch Management:Ensure financial targets, such as cost control, revenue goals, and profit margins, are met. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust strategies to achieve agreed-upon objectivesOversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely dispatch of orders to internal and external customers. Provide guidance on carrier selection and monitor performance to optimize delivery efficiencyEffectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with internal teams, such as department heads, warehouse staff, and senior management, as well as external stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and regulatory agencies, to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues promptlyUse analytical thinking to evaluate operational challenges, make critical decisions, and solve real-world business problems, such as optimizing delivery routes, addressing supply chain disruptions, or improving inventory managementOversee the physical condition of all equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring they are maintained in "like-new" condition. Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and inspections as needed Compliance & Safety:Support continual compliance with all regulatory and federal agencies, including food safety standards, OSHA regulations, and transportation laws. Ensure all operations align with company policies and legal requirementsEnsure safety regulations are followed across all operations. Develop and promote a culture of safety by implementing training programs, conducting regular safety audits, and addressing potential hazardsCollaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to support food safety efforts, address department-specific opportunities, and ensure compliance with food handling and storage regulationsLeadership & CollaborationDetermine staffing requirements, conduct interviews, hire qualified candidates, and oversee the onboarding and training of new employees. Ensure all team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectivelyWork closely with department heads and the Director of Operations to align team performance with company goals. Provide input on strategic initiatives and operational improvementsSupport the implementation of departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures. Ensure all team members understand and adhere to these guidelinesEducation and Experience:5 – 7 years’ supervisory/management experience in a Distribution setting Bachelor’s degree preferredExperience in distribution and process improvement initiativesExperience in supervising, coaching and developing staffKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and convey information clearlyExceptional analytical abilities to assess operational data, identify inefficiencies, and develop actionable solutions. Ability to make sound decisions under pressureProven leadership skills to manage, motivate, and inspire a diverse workforce. Ability to delegate tasks effectively and foster a collaborative team environmentIn-depth understanding of food safety regulations, OSHA standards, and other relevant compliance requirements. Ability to ensure all operations meet these standardsFamiliarity with logistics and distribution management software, as well as tools for inventory tracking and route optimizationStrong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, such as staffing, inventory, and logisticsA commitment to delivering excellent customer service by addressing client needs, resolving complaints, and ensuring timely delivery of productsKeen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management, compliance documentation, and operational reportingAbility to adapt to changing circumstances, such as supply chain disruptions or unexpected customer demands, while maintaining professionalism and composureStrong understanding of business principles, including budgeting, cost control, and strategic planning, to align operations with company objectivesAbility to negotiate contracts with vendors and carriers, build strong relationships with partners, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersWork EnvironmentThis job operated in an office and warehouse environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
