OM ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The OM Solar Electrical Technician is responsible for the ongoing operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of commercial and utility‐scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.Do not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity.This role supports system performance, safety, and reliability by identifying and correcting electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to outages and alarms in coordination with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.POSITION: OM Electrical TechnicianDEPARTMENT: EPCREPORTS TO: OM SupervisorTERMS/HOURS: Full-time, M-F, 8:00AM-4:30PMCLASSIFICATION: Hourly/Non-Exempt WORK AUTHORIZATION: US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident) COMPETENCIES:Electrical Solar Knowledge (Non-Residential)Relationship Management Negotiation SkillsResearch Data AnalysisTechnology AptitudeDrive for ResultsStrong Communication SkillsStrong Interpersonal SkillsOrganizational Skills KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform routine and corrective electrical and mechanical maintenance on solar PV systems, including modules, racking and tracker systems, DC wiring, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and monitoring equipment Diagnose system faults, underperformance issues, and electrical failures using test equipment and monitoring platforms Respond to service tickets, alarms, and outage events in a timely and professional manner Support inverter resets, firmware updates, component replacements, and system restarts Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and document findings and corrective actions Verify proper grounding, bonding, torqueing, and electrical integrity of system components Review monitoring data and assist with performance analysis and root‐cause evaluations Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and field reports Coordinate work with site managers, asset managers, and third‐party service providers as needed Follow all CDG safety policies, lock‐out/tag‐out procedures, and OSHA requirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of experience performing electrical maintenance, preferably in solar, power generation, or industrial environments Strong working knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems and NEC requirements Experience using multimeters, IV curve tracers, insulation resistance testers, and other diagnostic tools Ability to read single‐line diagrams, as‐built drawings, and electrical schematics Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail Comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervisionPREFFERED QUALIFICATIONSJourneyman Electrician license or equivalent (state‐specific) Experience with utility‐scale or commercial PV OM Familiarity with inverter platforms (e.g., SMA, Sungrow, Power Electronics, SolarEdge, Huawei) Familiarity with solar tracking platforms (OMCO, Valmont, Soltec, Terrasmart)Experience with monitoring/SCADA platforms Knowledge of basic networking and communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, fiber optic)OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification NFPA 70E training CPR/First Aid certificationKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalentTechnical knowledge of solar electrical is highly desirable.Proficiency in MS Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word.Proficiency with common hand and power tools and electrical testing equipment.Familiarity with operation of a variety of machinery on site, as required.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:None.WORKING CONDITIONS:Clean, safe site environment.Work primarily in an outdoor environment in a wide variety of weather conditions.Personal protective equipment (Arc rated clothing, rated electrical gloves) as required for task PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Willingness to travel between sites across New York State, with occasional overnights (Work on‐call or extended hours as required.Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during the day.Regularly use hand to reach; ability to talk and hear.Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. xywuqvp Ability to work at heights and use ladders, or lifts.Ability to work long hours as required by project schedules
