Pay: This is an hourly pay role at $30-$35 per hour plus a $200 per month health stipend. We design and build custom homes, tiny houses, and prefabricated structures using innovative materials and sustainable building practices. Job Description: CedarStone Design Build seeks a skilled and experienced Lead Carpenter to oversee and perform hands-on carpentry work on our diverse and innovative projects. The Lead Carpenter will work closely with our project teams to execute high-quality carpentry work, from rough framing to detailed finish work, while ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines. This role is essential to maintaining our high standards of craftsmanship and sustainable building practices. Key Responsibilities: Project Execution: Perform hands-on carpentry work, including framing, siding, roofing, installation of doors and windows, and finish carpentry on residential and prefabricated building projects. Team Leadership: Supervise and work alongside a team of carpenters and apprentices, ensuring that work is completed to high standards of craftsmanship and within project timelines. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with project managers, architects, and designers to ensure alignment with project plans and design specifications. Communicate daily with other team members to coordinate tasks and site activities. This is especially important because we are a fully integrated design and build firm. Site Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Monitor the job site for safety hazards and take immediate action to address any issues. Quality Control: Review work for accuracy, quality, and adherence to CedarStone’s standards of craftsmanship. Conduct regular inspections of ongoing work to ensure excellence. Materials and Tools Management: Order materials and ensure tools are maintained in good working condition. Track inventory and supplies, and manage project materials to minimize waste and ensure efficient use. Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot challenges that arise on-site, working with team members to find effective and timely solutions. Client Interaction: Occasionally meet with clients to discuss project progress and ensure satisfaction with the work being completed. Experience and Education Requirements: Experience: At least five years of carpentry experience, with at least two years in a lead or supervisory role. Experience with both rough and finish carpentry is required. Knowledge: Understanding of building science principles and sustainable construction techniques is a plus. Experience with mass timber and CLT is preferred but not required. Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and maintain a high standard of workmanship. Problem Solving: Ability to solve on-site construction challenges independently and in collaboration with team members. Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with other trades, project managers, and clients. Competencies: Attention to Detail: A commitment to high-quality work, focusing on the small details that make a project stand out. Leadership Skills: Ability to guide and motivate a team, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Safety Awareness: Prioritize safety at all times, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a safe work environment. Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of troubleshooting challenges and implementing creative, effective solutions. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
