Machine Operator Job Description
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, operates CNC machinery to fabricate parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
Follow documented loading instructions to ensure safe and proper loading and unloading of castings using a lifting device such as an overhead hoist or by hand depending on part size and weight.
Responsible for meeting standard production timeframes established for setup and cycle times.
Responsible for minor machine offsets and tool changes.
Perform daily maintenance on the machinery, including lubrication, fluid checks, chip handling, and scrap removal.
Troubleshoot basic machine issues as they arise.
Performs some follow-up operations, such as deburring, polishing, grinding, and prepping the part for shipping. This may include sending the part through the wash tank.
Uses gauges and measuring instruments to ensure product is produced within tolerance requirements.
Occasional use of manual or electric pallet jack.
Maintain accurate records of machine operations and QA inspection results.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Ability to read blueprints and measure parts using gauges and micrometers is a plus.
Ability to multitask.
Keen eye for detail and basic mechanical aptitude to ensure precision in operations.
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify issues during machine operations is a plus.
Physical Demands:
Machine shop working environment; dust, grease, and metal shavings common.
Standing and walking required 90% of work time.
Continuous pushing, pulling, and twisting.
Ability to lift up to ten (10) pounds continuously and up to thirty (30) pounds frequently.
Frequent bending, stooping, fine manipulation of hand tools and going up/down steps.
Overtime will be required during peak business periods and to meet business needs.
Work Environment:
Works indoors in warehouse settings, which are often cooler or hotter than traditional offices.
The noise level is often high due to the use of various equipment.
Continuous use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), steel toe shoes with metatarsals, and hearing protection is required when on the shop floor. Bump caps, face shields, gloves and Arc Flash Equipment may be required for more specific tasks.
