Database Engineer

Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ — Hybrid (3-4 days/week on-site)Local candidates strongly preferred. In-person interview is required — this is not an exception.We're looking for a hands-on Database Engineer to own the design, performance, and reliability of our database infrastructure across on-premise and AWS environments.What You'll DoInstall, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Redis, and PostgreSQL databases across on-prem and AWSManage replication strategies for high availability based on application needsAdminister and optimize AWS managed database services (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, EC2)Automate infrastructure setup and routine tasks using Ansible and AWS CloudFormationBuild and maintain monitoring/alerting systems (CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, MonYog) to catch performance issues before they become problemsOwn daily maintenance, health checks, and capacity planning across all environmentsPartner with developers on schema design and query optimizationWork with DevSecOps to apply security patches and upgrades on scheduleDesign and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategiesGenerate ad-hoc reports and insights for internal stakeholdersWhat You BringStrong hands-on experience with MySQL, Redis, and PostgreSQL administrationSolid AWS database services experience (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB)Comfort with Ansible and/or AWS CloudFormation for automationExperience with database monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, PMM, or similar)Working knowledge of Shell Scripting or PythonStrong Linux administration skillsExperience with backup/DR strategy and executionLogisticsHybrid role based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ — 3-4 days per week in officeCandidates must be local to the NJ/NY metro area or able to commute consistentlyInterviews are conducted in person — remote interview accommodations are not available for this roleIf you're someone who thinks about database reliability the way other people think about uptime SLAs, we'd like to talk.
