Manufacturing Cost Estimator
Position Overview:Our client, an innovative provider of Industry 4.0-related quick-turn custom manufacturing services with a comprehensive suite of both additive and traditional manufacturing technologies, is actively seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Manufacturing Services Estimator to support new and current customers for its growing business. As a Manufacturing Services Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for both plastic injection molding and tooling projects. This position requires a strong understanding of injection mold design, manufacturing processes, materials, and production costs. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, sales, and production teams to ensure cost-effective and high-quality solutions for our customers. This role requires a focus on delivering exceptional customer experience, robust project management skills and strong interpersonal skills.Key Responsibilities:Analyze customer RFQs (Requests for Quotations), engineering drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.Develop detailed cost estimates for plastic injection molds, tooling, and production molding, including materials, labor, cycle times, and secondary operations.Work with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to determine optimal tooling designs, production methods, and cost-saving opportunities.Source and evaluate material and component costs from suppliers while maintaining updated pricing databases.Provide accurate and timely cost breakdowns for tooling and molding projects, including prototype and production phases.Collaborate with suppliers and all internal departments to optimize manufacturing feasibility and efficiency.Work closely with the sales team (Business Development Directors) to understand customer requirements and expectations regarding pricing, quality, and lead-times (delivery) of parts and orders.Communicate customer requirements and expectations to all internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless execution and delivery of customer orders.Provide accurate and timely responses to all internal and external customer inquiries, addressing all questions and concerns.Work with Sales Operations leadership to generate progress reports and monitor performance metrics related to technology performance, revenue, and customer satisfaction.Monitor industry trends and advancements in injection molding and tooling to improve estimating accuracy.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (or minimum of 4 years work experience).Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mold design, injection molding processes, tooling materials, secondary operations, and (need to add Quality knowledge).Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).Attention to detail and ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.Problem-solving mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
