Details Located on the 6 East Med/Surg Intermediate unit of a hospital in Saint Louis, MO 22-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:3-4 Respiratory-heavy unit serving patients with conditions including respiratory failure, ETOH, overdose, GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, COPD, and cancer Equipment used includes tracheostomy (trach), ventilators (vent), VAPOTHERM (VAPO), and BiPAP EMR: Epic Night shift, 19:00–07:30 Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit 13-week contract Requirements Active RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA only; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient stepdown experience required Trach and ventilator experience required Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted) No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months Additional Information Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs. High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment Black scrubs required Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center American Traveler Job ID P-691430.
