Engineering Project Manager
Title: Project Manager – Transmission & DistributionLocation: Houston, TXEmployment Type: Contract To HireClient: Engineering & UtilitiesRate: $60-80/hrAbout The Role:Brooksource is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a leading engineering and utilities organization within its Transmission & Distribution practice. This role will support a program consisting of multiple small to moderate-sized transmission, substation, and communications projects, managing work from development through construction and closeout.The Project Manager will oversee multiple concurrent high-voltage overhead transmission line, substation, and communications equipment improvement projects. This individual will report to a Lead Project Manager / Program Manager and will be responsible for managing cost, schedule, scope, and stakeholder coordination across assigned projects.Key ResponsibilitiesManage projects through the full lifecycle, including development, engineering, permitting, construction, and closeoutOversee activities related to: Siting, environmental, and permitting efforts, Planning, estimating, and engineering coordination, Right-of-way acquisition and project controls, Procurement, bid phase services, and constructability reviews, Material management, construction management, and project closeoutDrive project schedules and manage scope across multiple concurrent projectsMaintain detailed and accurate cost forecasts, accruals, and change management documentationDevelop and implement project policies, procedures, controls systems, and execution plansMaintain clear communication between project sites, project offices, and external stakeholdersCoordinate cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams to ensure deliverables meet project requirementsProvide regular reporting to the Program Manager on: Construction progress, Cost and schedule performance, Procurement challenges, Safety, environmental, or design concerns, Risks, impacts, and mitigation strategiesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field7+ years of project management experience, including construction-phase executionExperience supporting high-voltage transmission lines, substations, or communications / telecom systemsWorking knowledge of Primavera P6 schedulingStrong understanding of cost management, change control, and risk managementAbility to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneouslyAbility to read and interpret: Substation construction drawings, One-line and three-line diagrams, General layouts, transmission plans and profilesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to travel to project sites as requiredValid driver’s licensePreferred QualificationsAdvanced knowledge of:High-voltage substation equipmentProtection & control systemsSCADA systemsTransmission line design and constructionExperience with contract analysis and evaluationPMP certification (preferred, not required)Why Brooksource?Brooksource partners with top organizations to deliver skilled project professionals on critical infrastructure initiatives.
