Senior Accountant – ConstructionManhattan, NY (Onsite)$95,000–$125,000The OpportunityA well-established general contractor with an active portfolio of high-profile commercial and residential projects across Manhattan is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. With a strong pipeline of work and a collaborative leadership group, this position offers the opportunity to play a key role in both corporate accounting and project financial operations.The company is known for delivering complex projects throughout NYC and offers strong long-term growth potential within a stable, fast-paced environment.Position OverviewReporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will oversee core accounting functions while supporting project accounting, job cost analysis, and financial reporting across multiple active construction projects. This individual will partner closely with project managers and operational leadership to ensure accurate reporting, cost visibility, and timely close processes.Core ResponsibilitiesManage month-end and year-end close processesPrepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliationsOversee AP/AR activities and assist with cash flow monitoringAnalyze project costs, budgets, and WIP schedules across active jobsSupport construction billing processes, including AIA billing and collectionsAssist with financial statement preparation and internal reportingReview subcontractor costs, change orders, and contract trackingMaintain accounting records within ERP/accounting systems (Sage, Procore, or similar)Partner with project teams to improve cost tracking and reporting accuracySupport audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal controlsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field4–7 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or real estateStrong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reportingExperience with job costing, WIP reporting, and construction billing preferredFamiliarity with Sage, Procore, CMiC, or similar construction accounting systemsAdvanced Excel skillsStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesCPA or CPA-track is a plusWhat’s Attractive About This RoleExposure to high-profile Manhattan construction projectsOpportunity to work closely with leadership and operations teamsStrong visibility into project financials and strategic decision-makingClear progression toward Accounting Manager or Assistant ControllerStable and growing contractor with a strong NYC project pipelineCompetitive compensation, benefits, and long-term growth opportunity
