Job DetailsDescriptionFor over 30 years, Aurora Community Services has been a leader in providing customized services that support individuals with disabilities, chronic mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries in their communities.Our maintenance department is committed to ensuring safe working environments that meet State and Federal Regulations, as well as ARA standards of quality.ResponsibilitiesComplete several types of maintenance tasks as assigned by the maintenance database including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, and appliance repairReport any necessary repairs or emergency situations to Maintenance Director immediatelyTravel to ARA facilities with company vehicle or personal vehicle to complete repairsEnsure safe operation of company vehiclesPerform company vehicle diagnosticsRespond immediately to maintenance requestsAdhere to Aurora safety policies to ensure the well-being of consumers and employeesOperate a variety of hand and power toolsDemonstrate the ability to complete tasks successfully, work independently, and willingness to work around people with disabilities and elderly individualsArrive promptly and work scheduled hours consistentlyMaintain consumer confidentiality in all situationsAct as a role model within and outside the agencyMaintain a positive and respectful attitudeProvide after hours on-call support as scheduledEnsure safe work practicesPerform other duties as assignedSafe TransportationOnly licensed and qualified staff will operate vehicles, and are expected to comply with all traffic laws and company policies during operation.Conduct a 360 degree walk-around to identify safety concerns prior to operating vehicleG.O.A.L. – Get Out and Look: Assure there are no hazards in the wayMotor Vehicle ConditionCheck brakes, blinkers, tire pressure, fuel level, oil and other fluidsReport all vehicle incidents and problems with company vehicles immediatelyUse a ‘spotter’ when backing vehicle when possibleUtilize back up cameras to ensure safetyRequirements/QualificationsAcceptable Background Character VerificationValid drivers license and acceptable driving recordCommunicate basic EnglishBasic reading, writing, and internet navigation skillsEmployees are expected to provide their own hand tools and power toolsAbility to lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs, or heavier weights with the aid of proper equipment. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, reaching, and bending at the waist in confined spaces and indoor/outdoor work environments with possible exposure to weather conditions. The position requires frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include climbing/descending ladders and staircases. Eyesight requirements include acceptable depth perception, and close/distance/color vision to operate varied tools, construction equipment, and motor vehicles.Aurora provides company vehicle to drive to residential group homes.
