Paid InternshipNYC or remotePosted 9 months agoApplications have closedWebsite Council on Foreign RelationsThe major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to): Assist in the development and refinement of interactive data visualization, focusing on clarity, usability, and user experience. Create compelling visual representations of foreign policy data sets using scripting libraries, third-party tools, and industry-standard software. Contribute to the creation of data-driven reports, presentations, and infographics, and translating complex information into easily digestible visual formats. Support ongoing data visualization style initiatives, ensuring consistency and alignment with CFR’s visual identity and data representation standards. Participate in the development of animated data visualizations and/or interactive data-driven storytelling content. Aid in the design of data-centric materials and concept development for at least one CFR event and/or conference, creating impactful visual aids to support presentations. Develop engaging data-driven visual content for CFR’s social media channels, crafting shareable graphics that effectively communicate key insights from foreign policy research.Qualifications Undergraduate student, majoring in visual communication design, data visualization, data journalism, or a related field All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship) Relevant research experience in web design, UI/UX, graphic design, and or data visualization, portfolio is required Strong attention to detail and resourcefulness Proficiency in business-level English and high-level writing Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Experience with DatawWrapper, Adobe Illustrator, Python/R, and Javascript (D3.js, ObservableHQ) is preferredTo apply, visit our internships page and apply for the “Intern, Digital Services, Design” position.
