React Native Engineer

The React Native Engineer plays a critical role in that mission by building the mobile application that connects field teams directly to the Digital Platform.You own the mobile experience end to end, from the interface field engineers, inspectors, and surveyors use on job sites to the data flows that move field inputs into the platform. The application you build captures the raw material that powers downstream AI-driven workflows and engineering deliverables.This is a field-first engineering role. You design for real-world conditions where connectivity is inconsistent, environments are demanding, and users are focused on the job, not the software. You build reliable, intuitive mobile experiences that support offline workflows, synchronize data seamlessly, and integrate with device capabilities such as GPS and camera.You work closely with the Lead Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, and Senior Product Designer to ensure the mobile application aligns with platform architecture and design standards. You also partner with Product Support Analysts and field teams to understand how the app is used in practice and continuously improve usability and data quality.This role requires strong React Native expertise, experience building production mobile applications, and a focus on performance, reliability, and user experience in field environments. You are motivated by building tools that work when and where they are needed most.Key ResponsibilitiesMobile Application DevelopmentDesign, build, and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React NativeDevelop intuitive user interfaces for field data capture and interactionEnsure high performance and responsiveness across a range of mobile devicesMaintain code quality, testing, and application stabilityOffline-First Architecture and Data SynchronizationDesign and implement offline-capable workflows for unreliable connectivity environmentsBuild robust data synchronization mechanisms between mobile devices and backend systemsHandle conflict resolution, data integrity, and retry logic for field-collected dataOptimize performance for low-bandwidth and intermittent network conditionsNative Device IntegrationIntegrate with device capabilities such as GPS, camera, photo capture, and sensorsBuild workflows for capturing, storing, and transmitting images and geospatial dataEnsure seamless interaction between native modules and React Native componentsPlatform IntegrationIntegrate mobile applications with backend APIs and platform servicesEnsure field data flows cleanly into the data and AI layers of the platformCollaborate with backend and AI engineers to support end-to-end workflowsMaintain consistency with platform architecture and data modelsUser Experience and Field ValidationPartner with the Senior Product Designer to implement consistent, intuitive user experiencesWork with Product Support Analysts to identify usability issues and friction pointsIncorporate feedback from field users to improve workflows and adoptionParticipate in field engagements or project hackathons to understand real-world usageCI/CD and Release ManagementBuild and maintain mobile CI/CD pipelines for iOS and Android deploymentsManage app releases, versioning, and distribution processesMonitor application performance and resolve production issuesSkills, Knowledge and Expertise4+ years of experience in mobile application developmentStrong proficiency in React Native and TypeScriptExperience building and deploying cross-platform applications for iOS and AndroidExperience designing and implementing offline-first mobile applicationsExperience with data synchronization, conflict resolution, and mobile data storageExperience integrating native device capabilities such as GPS, camera, and sensorsExperience consuming and integrating RESTful APIsFamiliarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines and app deployment processesStrong understanding of mobile performance optimization and debuggingExperience working in agile, product-oriented development environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent communication and collaboration skillsExperience building applications for field-based professionals in construction, engineering, utilities, or similar industries is a strong advantageFamiliarity with geospatial data, mapping, or location-based services is a plusExperience working with offline data capture and synchronization at scale is highly preferredCuriosity about how field teams operate and how technology can improve their workflowsAbility to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving product requirementsAbout TrilonTrilon was formed with the vision of building the next Top 20 infrastructure consulting firm in North America by bringing together some of the nation’s best infrastructure consulting firms, focused on delivering practical and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
