Painter Helper
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Painter Helper to join our dynamic construction and renovation team. In this role, you will assist experienced painters in preparing surfaces, handling tools, and executing various painting projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn will contribute to delivering high-quality finishes that transform spaces. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry while developing valuable skills in painting, surface preparation, and site maintenance.
Responsibilities
Assist lead painters with surface preparation including sanding, scraping, masking, and cleaning surfaces before painting begins
Mix paints and primers accurately using basic math skills to ensure proper color matching and consistency
Handle hand tools such as brushes, rollers, scrapers, and caulking guns to support painting tasks
Set up scaffolding, ladders, and drop cloths to ensure safety and efficiency on job sites
Support with the application of various coatings including residential paint, commercial paint, stucco finishes, and industrial coatings
Help with the installation of fixtures, trim carpentry, and restoration work as needed
Maintain a clean work environment by disposing of debris properly and organizing tools and materials
Qualifications
Previous experience or familiarity with construction site work is preferred but not required; a strong willingness to learn is essential
Basic knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics, and construction drawings is a plus
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, airless paint spraying equipment, and welding techniques is advantageous
Knowledge of color theory, surface preparation techniques such as plastering and caulking, and finishing methods like concrete finishing or masonry will set you apart
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy materials and working at heights safely
Strong attention to detail with good communication skills and a proactive attitude
Prior handyman experience or carpentry skills such as trim carpentry or frame carpentry are beneficial
