Accounting Technician

As the Accounting Technician, you will support programs in a large non-profit organization with general accounting, deposits, processing invoices, reconciling accounts and statements, and broad accounting department support. As the Accounting Technician, you must maintain high accuracy and confidentiality, a key aspect of this role that underscores the trust and responsibility we place in our team members. You must be detail-oriented and comfortable working with spreadsheets, accounting software, journal entries, and trial balances. You should communicate effectively both orally and in writing and be comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Process invoices for the company and related entities and issue payments weekly. Prepare and file documents. Reconcile general account balances and vendor statements. Communicate with staff, partners, and vendors. Process data, sort, code, verify, and post while maintaining records. Post accounts payable, receivable, and cash disbursements. Audit invoices and research discrepancies and post them to the proper account. Handle routine billing discrepancies and minor adjustments; communicate with vendors as necessary. Issue checks. Perform secondary accounting functions such as petty cash, account reconciliation, and close-outs. Review work for accuracy and consistency. Perform essential office functions. Some positions may focus on AP, AR, or backup Payroll. Performs other duties as required by supervisor. Must Haves Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Experience with Excel and accounting software. Office work experience. Entry-level accounts payable and accounting skills. Experience with double-entry accounting, journal entries, and trial balances. AA or AS in accounting/business or finance or commensurate education and experience.
