The Pharmacy Technician Trainee works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team, and under the direction of the Pharmacist.Essential FunctionsReceiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptionsReviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical CouncilProviding instructions to educate people on the correct way to take their medicineSupporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacyProtecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policiesOther duties as assignedEducationHigh School Diploma or GED (required, unless enrolled in a High School Training Program)Licensure/CertificationRegistration with respective State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee, if applicable (required)In South Carolina: State Registered Pharmacy Tech (preferred)ExperiencePrevious experience working in a team environment (preferred)TrainingPharmacy Training ProgramTraining will continue for up to 12 monthsUpon completion of the training period, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will be evaluated for advancement to a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Certified Pharmacy TechnicianThis may entail an ASHP/ACPE accredited training program or an employer-based program which meets the state board of pharmacy requirementsSkills & AbilitiesAbility to be proactive in a rapidly changing environmentEngage with staff and patients in a professional mannerPossesses problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsRequires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique As a Mercy Health associate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
