Skid Steer Operator (Paving)
Job Summary:The Skid Steer Operator is responsible for operating skid steer equipment to support asphalt paving operations, including material handling, surface preparation, and site cleanup. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient workflow for paving crews by ensuring materials are placed accurately, surfaces are properly prepped, and job sites remain clean and safe.Essential Functions:Results matter. Prepare smooth, consistent surfaces through backdragging and finish work to ensure paving readinessDedication. Maintain paving crew productivity by efficiently moving materials and minimizing downtime on siteDetermined. Deliver clean edges and transitions around curbing, structures, and tight or confined areasSafety always wins. Operate equipment safely with constant awareness of traffic, utilities, and crew membersObligated. Support proper surface conditions by assisting with grading adjustments and material placement as directedCommitted to serve. Maximize equipment uptime through daily inspections and proactive reporting of maintenance needsRespect and engage. Contribute to on-time project completion by coordinating effectively with foremen and crew membersEfficiency. Minimize rework by maintaining attention to detail in finish work and following site direction and specificationsMastery. Support overall crew success by assisting with general labor tasks and adapting to changing job site needsRequirements, Education and Experience:Demonstrated ability to operate skid steer equipment in construction or paving environmentsExperience with backdragging, material handling, and finish work preferredStrong understanding of safe equipment operation in active paving environments (traffic, utilities, crew proximity)Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-driven setting while maintaining quality standardsTeam-oriented mindset with effective communication skillsMechanical aptitude to identify basic equipment issues and support preventative maintenanceHigh attention to detail to minimize rework and ensure quality workHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredValid drivers license, clean driving record, and reliable transportationAbility and willingness to work variable shifts as neededAuthorized to work in the U.S.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. It involves moderate to heavy physical activity, including occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. The role requires working on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Employees must be able to sit for extended periods while operating equipment and frequently climb in and out of machinery.Work is performed on active construction sites with uneven terrain. The role requires good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to maintain awareness of surroundings at all times.
