Wet Chemistry Analyst
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Wet Chemistry Analyst to join our innovative scientific team. In this role, you will be working in an environmental lab preparing water, oil, soil, and sediment for analysis as well as analyzing the samples. You will maintain logbooks, and record data and results accurately and effectively. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team. The individual in this position reports directly to the Wet Chemistry Supervisor and is responsible for a number of specific tasks as outlined below under responsibilities. RESPONSIIBILITIES:
Perform required testing of client samples in accordance with Trace's standard operating procedures in an accurate and timely fashion.
Maintain precise, complete, legible and concurrent records of work performed in laboratory logbooks or on designated bench sheets.
Use a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to batch and prepare sample for analysis.
Perform various tests including: daily pipette checks, tracking of all area chemicals.
Cleaning of glassware and keeping work area tidy.
Inventory of supplies
Disposing of any instrument or sample waste properly based on type of hazardous chemicals (i.e. solvents, acids, oils, etc).
Review and edit standard operating procedures (SOPs) yearly or as needed, ensuring to follow the proper method requirements.
Perform routine preventative maintenance or repair of instruments
Any other job that the area supervisor deems necessary
May be required to work one holiday per year
Occasionally may be asked for help over weekends to cover vacations for weekend workers
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Experience with Ion Chromatography, Spectrometer, and Flow Segmented Analyzers preferred
Experience in and knowledge of good laboratory practices
Attention to detail, flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks while meeting expected deadlines and handling rush samples
PHYSICAL CAPACITY:
Ability to stand for 8 hours or more.
Dexterity in hands and fingers to carry out daily tasks.
Able to lift 70 lbs. cooler
WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal Business Hours- Monday-Friday 1st Shift 8:00am to 5:00pm
OT as needed to meet sample hold times
After-hours and weekend work as needed
Regular and Consistent Attendance
Lunch as planned/scheduled per day
