Pay Rate: $50 to $56/hr.Title: Treatment CounselorLocation: San Diego, CA 92113Job Type: ContractShift: Monday-Friday, working 3 day shifts 0700-1530 and 2 late nights 1230-2100Job Description:Job Summary:The Treatment Counselor implements a wide range of alcohol and drug use programs and provides case management and counseling services to inmates/residents assigned to the treatment program(s).Required:High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.One year (1) of full-time counseling experience in a substance use disorder program is required.Must possess an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor Certification by an accredited certifying organization.A valid driver's license is required.Skills:Interviews and assesses prospective program participants, and gathers data using appropriate screening and assessment instruments. Establishes rapport with participants and determines individual and group needs based on results of screening and assessment instruments and other collateral sources.Facilitates individual and group treatment interventions, in accordance with client, partner agency, and prevailing state regulations, statutes, policies and procedures. Uses standardized offender assessment information in developing treatment plans or specific programs.Facilitates participant engagement in treatment process, promoting positive attitudes, skills, coping mechanisms to encourage on-going recovery. Plans participant incentives and uses appropriate therapeutic tools to manage behavioral issues or concerns.Maintains the confidentiality of clinical files for each participant to include, but not limited to, intake documents, assessment(s), and interview(s), treatment plan, treatment plan reviews, progress notes, discharge summary, and referrals, according to written protocols and in compliance with prevailing laws and regulation(s).Documents and tracks treatment plans, monitors inmate progress and reviews status of inmates/residents to verify that treatment and therapeutic programs are completed.Plans, develops and conducts seminars, workshops and specialized training programs in the specific areas of treatment and prevention.Prepares and assists administrative and supervisory staff in development of a variety of standard narrative, statistical, summary and/or operational records, reports and logs, using appropriate grammar, to include filing, alphabetizing and labeling. Properly processes all reports and documents in a timely manner.Attends and actively participates in scheduled staff meetings, group meetings and other staff or group activities essential for effective program and service delivery. Attends professional seminars, workshops, conferences, as required.Assists in supervising inmates/residents assigned to treatment programs, and enforces policies and rules governing inmate conduct to maintain the safety and security of facility operations.Interviews and assesses prospective program participants, and gathers data using appropriate screening and assessment instruments.
