Electrical Designer

Brief DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY Under the general supervision of a senior engineer/designer is responsible for design of minor components or parts of a project requiring knowledge of engineering and related fields. Incumbents at this level are capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of design procedures and techniques.Works under general supervision and completes familiar assignments and solves problems of detail or presentation without direct supervision. Work is reviewed while in progress only when non-recurring methods are used and when modifications are not covered by specific instructions. All work is checked on completion.Essential Job FunctionsPlease note: The job descriptions may not be inclusive of all assigned duties, responsibilities, etc. of the job; duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to –Electrical Designer IVResponsible for preparing with computer aided tools of limited scope requiring application of prescribed engineering and design methods.Solve problems by applying standards and following detailed instructions.Perform other duties as assigned.Receive assignments with clear direction and execute routine tasksElectrical Designer IIIDemonstrate initiative in carrying out periodic tasks independently and judgment in determining the methods to apply to assigned tasks.Make decisions within established guidelines, procedures and practices.Begin showing initiative in identifying efficiencies or flagging issues.Demonstrate familiarity with other departments and supplier or contractor interactionsElectrical Designer IIFamiliarity with other departments and representatives of suppliers or contractors is required. Actively collaborate across departments and occasionally with external partnersHandle larger-scope projects that require more design autonomy and coordinationElectrical Designer IProvides expert judgment and recommendations for refining design guidelines and methodologies.Exercise strong judgment and autonomy on complex designs.Lead design initiatives or specialty engineering efforts.Make recommendations that may refine existing procedures or standards.Act as key point of contact with cross-disciplinary teams, contractors, and vendors.Assigned a broader range of duties with a strategic perspective on execution.RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVELElectrical Designer IV – Tech/Trade SchoolElectrical Designer III – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; two (2) years of experienceElectrical Designer II – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; four (4) years of experience Electrical Designer I - Tech/Trade School or equivalent; six (6) years of experienceSummaryCompensation for this role is determined based on a variety of factors including each candidate’s relevant experience, industry background, education, and demonstrated skills.
