The University’s 2,600 staff help create an annual economic impact for the Piedmont Triad region in excess of $1B.Primary Purpose Of The Organizational Unit:Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to all administrative departments, student programs, and all academic schools and departments. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of over 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on over 275 acres.Position Summary:The primary responsibility of this position is to inspect vehicles and equipment to diagnose issues and repair. This position will serve as a “technical lead” within the work unit, providing guidance and coaching to others in the same unit.This position requires a thorough understanding of the most difficult and complex systems. This position will conduct routine and major maintenance to extend the life of university vehicles and equipment, performing vehicle tune-ups; tire rotations, repairs, and changes; oil changes; wheel balancing; preventive maintenance; and hand tools maintenance within the university’s fleet. The employee in this position should be able to perform minor and major repairs on all types of equipment, including but not limited to: all vehicles, trailers, power operated equipment, and hand tools. Repair work may include engine/transmission rebuilds and major electrical repairs.This position maintains records of all service and repair work and maintains inventory, records, and orders from suppliers in the state system.This position is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.Minimum Qualifications:HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THE WORK.
