Part-time Inventory & Provisioning Specialist
Job Summary: The Inventory and Provisioning Specialist supports the management of customer hardware throughout its lifecycle. This position is responsible for assisting with receiving, tracking, preparing, and deploying devices to customers while maintaining accurate inventory records. The Inventory and Provisioning Specialist works closely with service desk and field services to ensure hardware is properly configured, documented, and delivered on time.Essential Functions of the Position:Receive, inspect, and log incoming hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals, networking equipment) into inventory systems.Accurately track inventory levels and asset details, including serial numbers, models, locations, and customer assignments.Assist with device provisioning, including basic configuration, imaging, labeling, and quality checks according to company standards.Prepare and package hardware for customer delivery, shipment, or onsite deployment.Maintain organized, secure storage areas for inventory and customer assets.Support hardware procurement activities by coordinating with internal teams as directed.Update documentation and inventory records to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.Communicate status updates related to inventory availability, order fulfillment, and provisioning timelines.Assist with returns, replacements, warranty claims, and decommissioning of equipment.Follow established processes, security requirements, and data-handling procedures.Escalate discrepancies, shortages, or damaged equipment to the Inventory Manager.Provide general support to the Inventory Manager and related teams as needed.Other Duties as AssignedMinimum Education Required:High school diploma or equivalent required.Post-secondary coursework in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.Required Experience:0–1 years of experience in inventory management, logistics, warehouse operations, or an IT support environment.Basic familiarity with computer hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals) and technology equipment handling.Ability to follow documented processes and work instructions with attention to detail.Customer service or internal support experience in a professional environment.Required Technical Skills:Basic understanding of computer hardware, including laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, and common peripherals.Ability to perform basic device setup tasks such as imaging, initial configuration, labeling, and quality checks.Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems at a user or basic support level.Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent tools.Ability to accurately enter and maintain data in inventory management systems, asset databases, or spreadsheets.Understanding of basic IT and data security practices, including proper handling of customer equipment.Ability to follow technical documentation, checklists, and standard operating procedures. Required Professional Skills:Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and documentation.Ability to follow established processes, procedures, and checklists consistently.Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and vendors.Basic time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Dependability and accountability in completing assigned tasks on time.Willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.Professional attitude with a customer-focused mindset.Environmental Requirements:Work is primarily performed in a staging or office environment.Use of standard warehouse and office equipment, including computers, scanners, carts, and packing materials.May require working in areas with moderate noise levels.Occasional exposure to dust or temperature variations typical of storage environments.Must be able to follow safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable.Physical Requirements:Ability to see clearly, to view computer monitors and read printed or digital materials. Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to hear and communicate effectively in person and via telephone.Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead, above shoulder level, and horizontally.Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 45 pounds.Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.20-25 Hours/Weekly
