We're growing fast, and we're just getting started.We're looking for our first Director of Marketing & Communications to own the full marketing function — someone who can land our CEO on a top podcast on Monday, neutralize a bad review on Tuesday, and shape the content strategy across our brand portfolio by Friday. This role is equal parts strategist, storyteller, and executor.What You'll OwnPitch our CEO to local and national media including news segments, business features, podcasts, and industry publicationsBuild and maintain relationships with producers, journalists, and editorsIdentify and manage award nominations and applications across business, industry, and leadership categoriesManage all inbound media requests, protecting the CEO's time while maximizing the right opportunitiesGhostwrite thought leadership content — LinkedIn posts, op-eds, contributed articles, and potential newsletter contentOwn and evolve the company's core public narrativesDevelop and maintain a crisis communications playbook and serve as the first responder when issues ariseReputation ManagementMonitor and manage our presence across Google Reviews, BBB, Trustpilot, Yelp, Glassdoor, Facebook, and emerging platformsRespond to negative reviews with speed, professionalism, and brand-consistent toneProactively generate positive press coverage and content that strengthens public sentiment and improves visibility in both traditional and AI-driven searchEscalate operational issues surfaced through reviews to the appropriate internal teamsTrack review scores and sentiment trends with regular reporting to leadershipBrand Strategy & StorytellingDefine and document the brand voice, visual identity guidelines, and messaging framework across our portfolio of brandsEnsure every piece of content, social post, and public communication reflects the right brand identityDeeply understand the unique story, audience, and mission of each brand and translate that into content that cultivates genuine emotional connectionConduct competitive and market intelligence — track competitor marketing, industry trends, and emerging opportunitiesWho You AreExperience & Background5–8 years of experience in marketing, communications, or PR — ideally a mix of both strategic and hands-on executionDemonstrated track record of landing media placements (not just pitching — actually getting coverage)Experience managing a brand's online reputation and understanding of review platform dynamicsStrong understanding of SEO principles, content marketing, and social media strategyExperience managing freelancers, agencies, or external partnersA portfolio or examples of brand storytelling, content creation, or PR winsAI Fluency (Required)You use AI tools to draft content, generate briefs, brainstorm pitches, analyze data, and accelerate research as a normal part of how you workYou understand how to prompt effectively, iterate on AI outputs, and apply human judgment to refine resultsYou have a perspective on how AI is changing search, content discovery, and SEO — and you're already adaptingYou're curious and experimental — when a new AI tool or workflow emerges, you try it before someone tells you toTraits That Matter HereYou are a self-starter who doesn't need to be managed — you see what needs to happen and you moveYou write exceptionally well and can shift voice across brands and formats without losing qualityYou're equally comfortable crafting a polished press pitch and jumping into a review responseYou think in narratives, not just campaigns — you understand that brand is built through consistent storytelling over timeYou're protective of the brand and the CEO's reputation and treat both with the seriousness they deserveYou thrive in a fast-paced, building-stage environment where the playbook doesn't exist yet — you're writing itCompensation & BenefitsSalary: $90,000 – $95,000 depending on experienceUnlimited PTO401k matchingHealth, dental, & vision insurance
