We specialize in gensets, motors and controllers to enable efficient, power dense, reliable, lightweight hybrid-electric and full-electric propulsion solutions.Come join us in a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a product destined to impact aerospace and advanced air mobility.LaunchPoint EPS is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer I to assist the mechanical engineering department with product development and document control activities.What You'll DoPrimary responsibility is to provide mechanical engineering CAD design support for company projectsServes as designer/drafter to conceptualize and translate mechanical 3D model designs into 2D detailed, accurate, and standardized technical drawings for engineering releaseTechnical Drawings: Layouts, envelope, interface, isometric, orthographic, assembly, sub-assembly, cable harness and detailed machining / fabrication drawings etcDesign support for production and test tooling and fixturesPerforms dimensional tolerance stackup of assemblies to ensure parts compatibility and total design accuracyECR release and Document Control of engineering documentationCreate Parts Master and Bills of Material in MRP systemAssists the engineering team with Configuration Management of engineering documentationAct as a design liaison between suppliers, procurement, assembly, and testDemonstrate strong technical aptitude, excellent communication, and creativity in mechanical design and engineering analysisAll other duties as assigned by the VP of EngineeringWhat You NeedAS Degree in STEM or related field and 3+ yrs related experience or BS Degree in STEMWorking knowledge of SOLIDWORKS CAD Software under limited or no supervisionExperience with complex assemblies including PCBA, harnessing, flexible assemblies and electronics enclosuresFamiliarity and operational understanding of GD&T principlesAdvanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Extreme attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervisionHighly Desirable Competencies (Bonus Qualifications)BS in Mechanical EngineeringAdvanced working knowledge of SolidWorksWorking knowledge of and experience implementing EIA-649, National Consensus Standard for Configuration Management, and/or GEIA-859, Data Management, as they apply to hardware development effortsFamiliarity and operational understanding of electric motors, generators, motion control electronics, and power electronicsWorking in an AS9100 QMS environmentPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Salary and Pay TransparencySalary range for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000. Base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
