Tooling Technician
Position: Tooling TechnicianJob Type: Full-time (40 Hours/Week), Non-Exempt, 1st Shift (M-F)About the RoleWe are seeking a Tooling Technician to support the build, finishing, maintenance, and repair of production and prototype thermoforming tooling used in automotive soft‑trim manufacturing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring tooling quality, production readiness, and continuous improvement within a fast‑paced automotive environment. You’ll be part of a skilled tooling team supporting automotive programs from prototype through production. This role offers hands‑on work, technical growth, and the opportunity to contribute directly to product quality and manufacturing success.What You’ll DoBuild, finish, and polish production and prototype thermoforming tooling and components using hand tools and powered equipmentInspect tooling surfaces throughout the finishing process to ensure cosmetic and functional qualityPerform routine service, preventative maintenance, and repairs on vacuum forming and thermoforming toolsAssist with tooling changeovers and setups to support production schedules and minimize downtimeTroubleshoot tooling‑related production issues and support continuous improvement effortsSupport tool tryouts, debugging, and adjustments during new program launches and engineering changesPerform minor tooling modifications, surface refinishing, and repairs as neededMaintain tooling organization, storage, and labeling to prevent damage and ensure traceabilityAssist with general shop maintenance, housekeeping, and 5S activitiesFollow all safety, quality, and work instruction requirementsWhat You’ll BringHigh School Diploma or GED3–5 years of experience in a tooling, manufacturing, or related industrial environment (benchwork, tool finishing, or polishing strongly preferred)Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality workmanshipComfort performing repetitive, detailed manual tasksAbility to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environmentSelf‑motivated, proactive, and able to take initiativePreferred ExperienceBackground in Tool & Die, Maintenance, Carpentry, or similar skilled tradesExperience with thermoforming or vacuum forming toolingAbility to read basic prints, tooling layouts, or work instructionsPhysical Requirements (not an all inclusive list)Ability to sit or stand for extended periodsAbility to reach, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbsFrequent use of small hand tools requiring fine motor skillsWhat We OfferCompetitive pay401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, and vision insuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA)Life insurancePaid time offTuition reimbursement
