Bindery Cutter Operator

Job Description Sansom Staffing has partnered with a growing printing and bindery company in Brooklyn Park to add a Bindery Cutter Operator to their team.This role is responsible for operating a SABER hydraulic guillotine cutter alongside a paper jogger to accurately trim printed materials in a high-volume trade bindery environment. The ideal candidate will take pride in producing clean, precise cuts while maintaining efficiency and adhering to strict quality and safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate SABER hydraulic paper cutter (programming, back gauge, clamp settings)Use a paper jogger to align and square lifts before cuttingRead and interpret job tickets, cut programs, and layoutsProgram and execute automated cutting sequences for repeat jobsAccurately cut large sheets of paper to tight tolerancesMonitor and adjust: Clamp Pressure, Blade depth, and condition, and back gauge positioningInspect finished product for square cuts, correct dimensions, and clean edgesMaintain efficient workflow between jogging → cutting → stackingPerform routine maintenance on blade changes, tracking sharpness, cleaning, and lubricationRequired Skills & QualificationsExperience operating SABER or similar hydraulic guillotine cuttersset up, folders, gluers, tackers, and cutter is a plusFamiliarity with paper joggers and material handling workflowsAbility to program or recall cutting sequencesStrong understanding of grain direction, lift handling, and cutting tolerancesProficiency with measurements (fractions, decimals, metric)High attention to detail and consistencyMechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityAbility to safely handle large paper lifts (often 50+ lbs)Preferred Qualifications2+ years in a trade bindery or commercial print environmentExperience with large-format cutters (36"–60")Familiarity with SABER X-15 or similar modelsKnowledge of upstream/downstream processes (press, folding, stitching, etc.)
