Construction Engineer
Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Construction Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing – MEP) to serve as the Owner’s Representative on a large-scale biologics/foundry facility project. This role is primarily field-based and focused on ensuring high-quality execution of mechanical systems in alignment with design intent, safety standards, and project schedule requirements.The ideal candidate will be a strong field leader with hands-on experience in complex industrial construction environments, capable of proactively managing contractors, resolving field issues, and driving mechanical completion and turnover readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide daily onsite oversight of all MEP construction activities, with emphasis on HVAC, mechanical systems, and piping installations Conduct regular field walkdowns to verify installation quality, safety compliance, constructability, and alignment with design documents Ensure all work complies with drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and owner requirements Act as the Owner’s onsite representative, holding contractors accountable for execution quality and schedule adherence Identify, track, and escalate project risks related to safety, quality, progress, and coordination Support field coordination, RFI resolution, and interface management across multiple disciplines (CSA, mechanical, process piping, utilities) Participate in punch list development, deficiency tracking, and resolution activities Review and validate QA/QC documentation, inspection records, and turnover packages Support mechanical completion activities and ensure readiness for system turnover Collaborate closely with commissioning teams to ensure systems are installed, tested, and handed over successfully Required Qualifications10+ years of construction or construction management experience (strong technical background may offset years of experience) Demonstrated experience on large capital projects ($50M+), preferably industrial or high-spec facilities Strong hands-on knowledge of: HVAC systems Mechanical and process piping (including carbon steel systems) Mechanical completion processes Commissioning support for HVAC and piping systems Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings, specifications, and P&IDs Experience working in the field in an Owner’s Representative or EPCM-facing role preferred Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction environment Preferred QualificationsExposure to electrical systems (not required) Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated environments (beneficial but not required) Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and construction tracking or CM systems Tools & SystemsBluebeam (preferred; training available) AutoCAD (drawing navigation) Construction management and inspection tracking systems (varies by project) Interview ProcessInitial virtual interview Second-round virtual interview with engineering and leadership stakeholders Feedback provided within 24 hours
