Human Resources Manager

Position OverviewOne of our clients is seeking a HR Manager that is an experienced human resources professional who serves as a trusted partner to leadership and employees across multiple locations. This role oversees the full scope of HR operations, including employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, workers' compensation, and HR systems. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with strong judgment, broad HR expertise, and a passion for fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace. This position also leads and develops a team of HR administrators while ensuring consistent application of policies, practices, and standards across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesBenefits AdministrationOversee the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and wellness initiativesEnsure compliance with applicable regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, and ACAAct as the primary resource for employee benefits inquiries and communicationsAnalyze benefits utilization and employee feedback to recommend improvementsManage vendor relationships and evaluate service performancePartner with finance and operations to manage budgets and ensure cost efficiencyPayroll & Leave AdministrationSupport payroll processes in partnership with finance to ensure accuracy and complianceAdminister leave programs including FMLA, ADA, and other leave of absence policiesEmployee RelationsServe as the primary HR partner to leadership on employee relations mattersLead and document investigations, ensuring fair and consistent outcomesProvide guidance on performance management, coaching, and corrective actionsPartner with leadership on conflict resolution and policy interpretationIdentify trends and proactively recommend solutions to improve the work environmentWorkers' CompensationManage the full workers' compensation process from incident reporting through claim resolutionCoordinate with insurance carriers, medical providers, and employeesTrack claims, return-to-work programs, and modified duty assignmentsAnalyze injury trends and partner with leadership on safety initiativesCompliance & Policy ManagementEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulationsMaintain and update HR policies and procedures to align with current requirementsConduct audits and implement corrective actions as neededUnemployment ManagementServe as the subject matter expert for unemployment claims and hearingsPrepare documentation, respond to claims, and represent the organization in hearingsTrack outcomes and recommend strategies to mitigate risk and reduce liabilityHR Systems & Data ManagementAct as the primary administrator for HR systems, including document management and service delivery toolsMaintain workflows, case management, and data integrity within HR platformsTrain HR team members and managers on system usage and best practicesPartner with IT to troubleshoot issues and manage system updatesHR Projects & Strategic InitiativesLead HR projects from planning through executionCollaborate cross-functionally with leadership on initiatives that impact employee experienceSupport rollout of new programs, policies, and technologiesTrack and report on HR metrics and project outcomesTeam LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop a team of HR administratorsEnsure consistent execution of HR practices across all locationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field5+ years of progressive HR experience, including strong exposure to benefits administrationIn-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulationsExperience supporting multi-site or multi-state organizations preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levelsProven ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretionStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilitiesProficiency in HRIS platforms (UKG or similar preferred) and Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolutionConfident presentation and facilitation skillsThis is a full-time, direct-hire, fully onsite position in Ann Arbor, MI
