Kelly Engineering seeks a skilled Field Service Technician to join our client’s team. In this role, the Service Technician installs, commissions, troubleshoots, and repairs the company's machines at client sites.
What You’ll Do:
Install, commission, and service cutting‑edge CNC machine tools, control systems, and associated equipment at customer locations around the globe.
Interpret complex electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication schematics to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
Perform precise geometrical leveling, alignment, and calibration using laser measurement tools to ensure optimal machine accuracy.
Troubleshoot and repair major mechanical components such as spindles, gearboxes, drive systems, and ball screws.
Configure and troubleshoot advanced axis control systems, tool changers, and automation features like TRAORI.
Conduct acceptance tests, workforce training, and provide ongoing technical support to customer teams.
Collaborate with engineering and service leadership by sharing feedback for product improvement and system reliability.
Maintain detailed documentation of service activities, repairs, and recommendations.
Required Skills:
5+ years of hands‑on experience servicing industrial machine tools or similar capital equipment.
Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with diagnostic software, laptops, and field service tools.
Excellent problem‑solving and customer communication skills.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and operate in industrial environments.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including internationally on occasion, with a valid passport.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with 5‑axis machining, including setup and TRAORI configuration.
Knowledge of laser alignment systems for geometry and straightness measurements.
Additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, or control systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical degree, military technical training, or apprenticeship in engineering, electronics, or machinery preferred.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work mostly first‑shift hours with overtime.
Capable of working in diverse industrial settings, often at heights or in confined spaces.
