Additional Locations: Requisition ID: 26772SUMMARYThe Quality Technician is responsible for facilitating and supporting Quality Assurance processes and NFPA 1901, NFPA 1900, and/or ULC-S515 requirements, which lead to the reduction/removal of defects throughout the value stream.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESPromote the expectation that team members will consider the impact of their work/actions on others and make deliberate decisions to act in ways which prevent rework or constraints on the process. The Quality Technician is a coach, cheerleader and player on the team.Promote systems and processes which enhance the team's ability to meet customer expectations (NFPA 1901 regulations, Buy/Sell Agreements, UL requirements)Act as mediator when needed to clarify customer expectations and provide feedback to manufacturing supervisionPerform Pre-Delivery Inspections of completed processes in designated buy/sell areasPerform data entry, analysis and sharing/explanation of informationGenerate Quality reports and be able to explain informationValidate all critical and safety items as required by the Build BookReview all deviations, quality alerts, and stop shipmentsPerform audits of new and existing processesWriting documents and document control (examples: 3rd Party Testing Documentation)Facilitate/Participate in Root Cause Analysis, Practical Problem Solving, etc.Initiate non-conforming material documents for supplier quality issuesAssist in the execution of activities which promote continuous improvement and protect customersConduct training, information sharing, and orientation sessionsLead by example regarding safety and acting in the best interests of the teamProvide coverage for other technicians as needed (Apparatus Testing and Plant Quality Technicians)Operate all functions of fire apparatus and perform necessary testsAny other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or Smeal ManagementQUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent experienceDetail oriented with strong analytical, communication and problem solving skillsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalPositive attitude, energetic, motivated, professional and team playerStrong interpersonal skills working in team environmentExcellent attendanceAbility to read relevant measuring equipmentProvide appropriate feedback and documentation of any defectsSelf-motivated with the ability to stay on taskAbility to lift up to 40 lbsMust follow all Safety guidelinesAbility to follow proceduresAbility to embrace changeAbility to climb ladders and work at heights up to 12 ft.Ability to work in all climates (indoor, outdoor, extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCurrent Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 daysKnowledge of/ability to acquire a thorough understanding of customer expectations and regulatory requirements (NFPA 1901/NFPA1900)Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excell, Outlook)Able to read and understand Engineering documents such as part prints, assembly drawingsUnderstanding of hydraulic, PTO, and pump systemsBe willing to:Learn and rotate within all quality areasImprove self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)Develop a working knowledge of Spartan's systems (example: E-Data)EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSEducation: HS Diploma or GED (Required)Associates or Technical Degree (Preferred – Quality/Manufacturing)Functional Experience: 0-2 Years (Prior quality systems experience preferred but not required)WORK ENVIRONMENTOperate a vehicle: OccasionallyOperate small equipment: OccasionallyOperate office equipment: FrequentlyHandle power tools: OccasionallyOperate heavy equipment: NeverIsolated with minimal support: OccasionallyHear: FrequentlyTalk: FrequentlyWrite: FrequentlyEye/hand coordination: FrequentlyPhysical movement (pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, standing): FrequentlyInside work area: FrequentlyRequires extended hours: OccasionallyOperate production machinery: OccasionallyWork in all weather conditions: FrequentlyTerex Corporation is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity.
