Mechanical Design Engineer – Hybrid-Electric Propulsion SystemsWe are an advanced aerospace engineering organization developing next-generation hybrid-electric aircraft designed to transform regional mobility through faster, cleaner, and more efficient air transportation. Our multidisciplinary team combines deep expertise across aerospace, propulsion, mechanical systems, and rapid hardware development to bring innovative aircraft platforms from concept through certification and production.The RoleWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Propulsion Team. In this role, you will support the design, analysis, integration, and testing of high-performance propulsion systems and associated mechanical and thermal subsystems.You will work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment alongside electrical, manufacturing, test, and flight teams to develop propulsion hardware from early concept through prototype build, testing, and iterative refinement.What You'll DoDesign and integrate propulsion-related mechanical systems and subsystems including motors, generators, inverters, turbines, structures, and cooling systemsCreate and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-upsSupport the development and optimization of thermal management systems including air and liquid cooling solutionsPerform engineering analyses using hand calculations and FEA to support design decisionsConduct DFM/DFA trade studies balancing weight, cost, manufacturability, reliability, and thermal performanceSupport hands-on prototype assembly, integration, testing, debugging, and root cause analysis activitiesTranslate test data and prototype feedback into design improvements and engineering updatesManage designs throughout the engineering lifecycle including documentation and change managementRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field4+ years of experience designing complex mechanical or electromechanical systemsExperience owning hardware designs from concept through build, test, and iterationProficiency with 3D CAD tools and production-quality drawing creation with GD&TStrong understanding of tolerance stack-ups and real-world integration challengesExperience designing for manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturingHands-on experience with prototype builds, testing, and hardware troubleshootingExperience working with electromechanical systems such as motors, power electronics, rotating machinery, batteries, or cooling systemsPreferred QualificationsExperience with propulsion systems, hybrid-electric systems, or high-performance electromechanical hardwareKnowledge of thermal management systems, vibration, and structural dynamicsExperience performing thermal and structural analysis using FEA, CFD, or analytical methodsFamiliarity with PLM systems such as TeamcenterBackground in aerospace, EV powertrain, robotics, or other advanced hardware industriesExperience supporting prototype and early production hardware environmentsNote, US Citizen or Green Card Holder Only
