ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER (RESIDENTIAL)Open Road Design, Bend, OregonOpen Road Design is seeking an Architectural Designer to join a small, hands-on studio focused on custom residential homes throughout Central Oregon.This role is best suited for someone who understands how a set of drawings actually gets built and can take ownership of their work from early design through permitting.ABOUT THE ROLEYou will work across all phases of residential design, including:Development of permit-ready construction drawingsCoordination with structural engineers, surveyors, and consultantsNavigating local codes, HOA/ARC requirements, and permitting processesOccasional client interaction and design collaborationThis is a small firm environment, so the role requires someone comfortable wearing multiple hats and working with a high level of independence.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORStrong understanding of residential construction and detailingBe in Bend Oregon or surrounding areasProficiency in Archicad preferred (training available for the right candidate)Ability to produce clean, organized, permit-ready drawing setsWorking knowledge of building codes and standard construction practicesSelf-starter who can manage time and priorities without heavy oversightStrong communication skills and attention to detailIMPORTANT NOTES (PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING)This is not an entry-level drafting positionApplicants should be comfortable producing permit-ready plans with minimal directionPreference will be given to candidates with residential project experienceIf you have not worked on construction documents, this likely is not the right fitBONUS (NOT REQUIRED)Experience with Central Oregon jurisdictions or similar permitting environmentsExperience with custom homes or high-end residential designFamiliarity with HOA or Architectural Review processesCOMPENSATION AND STRUCTUREHourly, based on experienceFlexible scheduleOpportunity to grow with the firm and take on increasing responsibilityPotential for partial remote work over timeWHY OPEN ROAD DESIGNSmall team, direct impact on projectsExposure to a wide range of custom home designsReal involvement in the full process, not just production draftingFlexible, practical work environmentHOW TO APPLYPlease send:ResumePortfolio or sample work (PDF or link)Brief note about your experience with residential design and software used
