Conflicts Analyst
Michael Best is seeking a Conflicts Analyst for our Milwaukee or Waukesha, WI office. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for conducting thorough reporting and analysis to identify potential conflicts of interest between the firm's clients and prospective clients. The Conflicts Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the firm's compliance with ethical and legal obligations and maintaining client confidentiality.What You'll Be DoingConduct comprehensive conflict checks using various databases, internal systems, and external resources to identify potential conflicts of interest.Analyze conflict search results and evaluate the nature and extent of conflicts and escalate conflicts as necessary.Assign client matter numbers and maintain all client matter modifications.Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, senior management, and practice chairs to gather additional information and clarify conflict-related matters.Maintain system integrity and database clean up.Prepare detailed conflict reports summarizing findings, including potential conflicts, associated risks, and recommended actions.Monitor changes in client relationships, organizational structures, and legal requirements to proactively identify and address potential conflicts.Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to conflict analysis and management.Job Requirements:Knowledge Base & Education:High school diploma or equivalentTwo years of prior experience as a conflict analyst or in a related role within a law firm or legal department is highly desirable.Familiarity with legal research tools, databases, and conflict management software, including Elite.Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze searches and identify and assess potential conflicts and associated risks.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Adaptability:Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs changeAbility to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlinesAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a team, with a desire to be a part of a collaborative, high-performing group Collaboration:Team player mentality, with a desire to be a part of a collaborative, high-performing groupAbility to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm Communication:Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate conflict analysis findings and recommendations.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staffAbility to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion Problem Solving Skills:Ability and confidence to identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate actions/solutionsAbility to respond to unexpected challenges, including proactively developing innovative solutions to complex problems while maintaining a professional demeanorProfessionalism:Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate good judgmentOther: Valid authorization to work in the U.S.The CompanyThis is an opportunity to work with the Best.
