As a Senior Engineer, you will represent the firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. Job Responsibilities As a Supervising Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for project management, including the conceptual approach to all trade-specific systems on multiple projects, and ensuring approach implementation through the management of resources. This position is specifically responsible for converting client goals into appropriate system designs and/or solutions considering the environmental effects, project budget, health, safety and welfare of the public, and local systems and methods. Individuals must take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, coordination, profitability, and timeliness of the work under their direction. Develop initiatives to improve and maintain staff skills and technical abilities. This individual shall be capable of being the “Engineer of Record” on projects. Additional responsibilities include: Provides periodic objective and comprehensive employee evaluations. Acts as “Engineer of Record” on dedicated projects. Assists Technical Manager and Chief Engineer in business unit technical training and staff mentoring. Coordinates and assigns various projects to be performed by the engineering team (i.e., system design and project engineering). Establishes design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects. Leads and supervises staff members as they perform their tasks. Manages construction administrative duties, such as field reports, responses to RFIs, processing bulletins and addenda, etc. (PM); coordinates with accounting to prepare monthly project invoices; monitors project accounts receivable and contacts the client as needed to expedite payment. Monitors all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, etc. Participates in and contributes to business unit TLC. Participates in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management. Prepares proposals and administers project contracts between SHG and the client, including add service agreements. Supervises and leads coordination meetings. Supervises preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions. The successful candidate would not only have a strong technical role in project coordination but will also be expected to have the necessary supervisory skills to perform: Periodic objective and comprehensive employee evaluations. Participate in and contribute to the business unit Technical Leadership Committee. Assist the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer in business unit technical training and staff mentoring. Job Requirements Successful candidates must have a current PE registration and must have healthcare design experience. In addition, a history of working with projects such as healthcare, federal, critical facilities, commercial, and aviation would be a good fit for this dynamic role. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution. 8+ years of project management experience. 12+ years’ experience working in a consulting firm; this is a senior level role that requires a background in the MEP engineering industry. 5 years of supervisory experience.
