Speech Language Pathologist (Speech Pathologist)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with articulation, voice, fluency, and/or language disorders. Assess and provide intervention to eliminate or reduce communication disorders that interfere with a student's ability to benefit from the educational program.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or equivalentComputer proficiencyLicenses/Certifications:Current license as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, if applicableMust obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number within 30 days of employmentLanguage Skills:Ability to read, interpret, and write professional documents and reportsAbility to present information clearly to various stakeholdersMathematical Skills:Ability to perform basic mathematical functionsAbility to interpret graphs and statistics related to evaluations and progress monitoringReasoning Ability:Ability to apply logical reasoning to solve problems and adapt to various situationsDemonstrate professional conduct in all educational settingsMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Provide services in accordance with the ASHA Code of Ethics and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) standards.Conduct comprehensive evaluations and write Full Individual Evaluations (FIEs) in accordance with state and district guidelines.Participate in ARD Committee meetings to interpret assessment data, determine eligibility, set goals, and recommend placement.Deliver appropriate individual and group therapy aligned with goals in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Incorporate evidence-based practices and academic content into therapy sessions.Serve students in the least restrictive environment (LRE) and support generalization of skills.Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for dismissal from services.Collaborate with educators to integrate communication skill-building into classroom activities.Provide professional development to staff on recognizing and supporting communication disorders.Maintain effective communication with staff, families, and students.Create and maintain an organized, distraction-free therapy environment.Supervise and mentor speech-language pathology assistants, graduate students, and interns in accordance with TDLR regulations.Collect and analyze service data to evaluate therapy effectiveness and recommend changes.Assist in selecting therapy materials and equipment.Maintain accurate documentation, including daily notes, progress reports, evaluations, and Medicaid billing, using the district's data systems.Track referrals and evaluations across assigned campuses.Submit data and documentation in a timely manner for IEP development and evaluations.Comply with federal/state regulations and local board policies.Follow all district and campus procedures and schedules.Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise SLP-Assistants, graduate students, and interns in accordance with TDLR and ASHA regulations.WORKING CONDITIONS:Frequent district-wide travel between campusesNormal classroom and therapy settingsNoise level varies from quiet to moderate depending on student needsPhysical Demands:Frequent speaking and hearingOccasional walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, lifting (up to 45 lbs), and assisting with physically disabled studentsVision abilities include near, far, and adjusting focusThe foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills that may be required.Copperas Cove ISD does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, or age in its programs, activities or employment practices.For inquiries regarding the non-discrimination policies, contact: Executive Director of Human Resources, (254) 547-1227, 408 S.
