Staff Accountant (Contract / Leave Coverage) Location: On-site | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our Accounting team during an employee leave period. This role will focus on routine accounting operations, reconciliations, and month-end support in accordance with GAAP and NCUA regulations. The position is contract-based through October 2026 , with the potential to convert to a full-time role after 90 days, though conversion is not guaranteed.This role functions at the Staff Accountant level ; a CPA or senior-level background is not required. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with Credit Union policies, procedures, GAAP, and NCUA rules and regulationsAssist with the preparation of financial statements as scheduled or directedAnalyze and reconcile third-party reports, ensuring balances are accurate and reconciliations are completed timelyReconcile and maintain Credit Union cash accounts, ensuring accuracy and completenessPrepare and post daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries, ensuring proper general ledger coding and accuracyReconcile assigned general ledger accounts on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, as requiredInvestigate and resolve accounting discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account and general ledger information; ensure discrepancies are documented and cleared within 30 daysSupport month-end close activities and other routine accounting functions as assigned Required Qualifications 2–5 years of hands-on accounting experienceDirect experience with general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliationsStrong proficiency in Microsoft ExcelHigh attention to detail with the ability to meet established quality and accuracy standardsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesDemonstrated reliability, responsibility, and consistent attendanceAbility to work independently, analyze data, and solve problems with minimal directionAbility to understand and comply with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to accounting functions Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a credit union, banking, or financial services environment Work Environment & Team Fully on-site position; remote work is not availableAccounting team consists of 8 team members, including the Manager and VP of AccountingThe role works closely with multiple team members as assignments are distributed across the departmentPosition is intended to provide coverage while a team member is on leave Additional Details Contract role through October 2026Potential opportunity for full-time employment after 90 days. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Broomfield, CO. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
