The Teacher of Record is accountable for student academic growth, instructional planning, classroom management, assessment practices, documentation compliance, and professional responsibilities as required by state law and local policy.Required QualificationsIn accordance with TEA and SBEC regulations, teachers must:Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institutionPossess a valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for grade level and subject assignmentDemonstrate subject-matter competency as defined by Texas lawMeet "Highly Qualified" standards as applicableHold ESL certification or meet district requirements for serving Emergent Bilingual studentsHold appropriate certification for Special Education, Bilingual, Gifted & Talented, CTE, or other specialized assignments if applicableComplete fingerprinting and criminal history background requirementsMaintain all SBEC certification and continuing professional education (CPE) requirementsEssential Duties and Responsibilities1. Instructional Planning & TEKS AlignmentDevelop and implement lesson plans aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)Clearly identify measurable learning objectives tied to grade-level standardsUse vertical alignment practices to ensure readiness for the next grade levelDifferentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners (Special Education, 504, Emergent Bilingual, GT)Integrate literacy and critical thinking skills across content areasUtilize research-based instructional strategies appropriate to student developmental levels (elementary, junior high, high school)2. Student Assessment & Academic GrowthAdminister formative and summative assessments aligned to TEKSPrepare students for STAAR and other state-mandated assessments as applicableAnalyze assessment data to inform instruction and interventionsMonitor and document student mastery of standardsMaintain accurate and timely grade records in accordance with district policiesProvide intervention and enrichment support within MTSS/RTI frameworks3. Classroom Environment & Student ManagementEstablish and maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environmentImplement campus and district discipline policies consistentlyPromote social-emotional learning and character developmentSupervise students during instructional and non-instructional times as assignedMaintain compliance with campus safety and emergency procedures4. Compliance & DocumentationMaintain required documentation for IEPs, 504 Plans, LPAC, and other student servicesImplement accommodations and modifications as required by lawParticipate in ARD, 504, LPAC, MTSS, and other required meetingsProtect student confidentiality in accordance with FERPAComplete all required TEA-mandated trainingsSubmit attendance, grades, and reports in accordance with district timelines5. Communication & CollaborationMaintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding academic progressParticipate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)Collaborate with instructional coaches, administrators, and support staffContribute to campus improvement planning and school-wide initiativesMaintain professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues6.
