Registered Nurse Psychiatry

Enter Job Description...The VA seeks specialized nurses to augment full-time staff in the Nursing/Patient Care Services Department, providing high-quality care in inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient areas, critical and acute care units, including COVID-19 units. Nurses must be willing and able to work with all patients, including those who are COVID-19 positive or PUIs.Key Responsibilities:Provide direct patient care in inpatient psychiatric units, supporting mental health patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and implement individualized care plans.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and deliver patient-centered care.Follow VA policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times.Maintain proper documentation using VA electronic health records and other relevant systems.Uphold infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards.Qualifications:Current RN license in at least one U.S. state, territory, or D.C.CPR certification from an American Heart Association vendor; current BLS required.Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience in mental health/psychiatric settings within the last 3 years.Competency in computer use and electronic health record systems.Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN, CCNE, or ANCC). BSN or MSN preferred.Ability to provide proof of current immunizations, tuberculosis, and rubella testing.Must provide own royal blue scrubs and nametag while on VA grounds.Preferred/Additional:Experience with COVID-19 care and critical/acute care units.Familiarity with VA-specific processes and electronic systems.
