GroundskeeperProvide exceptional care to the grounds to attract guests and add to the aesthetic value of the Wheeling Park CommissionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Interact with the public in a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees and external contractorsMust be able to work alongside a team, or alone to accomplish goals and job tasksOperate and maintain grounds equipment such as blowers, mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, edgers, trucks, dump trucks, utility carts, and tractors if requiredAble to use hand tools for grounds maintenance such as shovel, trowel, rake, cultivator, posthole digger, broom, axe, forks, pruners, loppers and shearsPlant, water, and maintain flower beds, and other plantsMow, trim, and edge lawns for a healthy, manicured lookPlant, water, and maintain trees and shrubs properlyRemove weeds, and cultivate flower beds and other landscape bedsKeep walk ways, parking lots, roadways and driveways clear of debris and litterSplit, stack, and deliver firewoodTrash collection park-wide through cottages, roadways, parking lots, shelters, and other assigned areasSnow removal and ice control from roadways, parking lots, driveways, and walk ways by using shovels, brooms, ice chemical, and tractors and trucks if requiredPrunes trees properly as neededRemoves fallen trees and limbs, and assists with the removal of dead and/or damaged trees and shrubsAssist in maintaining irrigation systemsMaintain clearance, make minor repairs, and paint fences and gatesPerforms minor repairs to roadways and parking lotsKeep grounds, drainage ditches, and culverts free of litter and debris (including dead animals)Assist in setups and tear downs for special eventsAssist in setup and tear down of Festival of Lights as directedAssist with other jobs as directedEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Driver's License
