Pipe Welder Foreman

Primary FunctionThe Welder Foreman is responsible for a combination of duties including mentorship, and leadership for their craft. Must possess strong skills and knowledge of duties in the maintenance, turnaround or new construction environment. Will supervise crews for the execution of daily work assignments. Thorough understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures. Proficient communication skills both verbally and with the use of a computer if required.Typical DutiesWorks closely with General Foreman, QA/QC Department and other site/team leaders.Maintains Safety Accountability Procedures.Assures that a high quality of work is being maintained.Conducts and participate in daily safety, toolbox, monthly and special meetings for the crews.Provides strong leadership for assigned crews.Ensures all Craft Employee Evaluations are completed.Promote a strong Safety culture within the crews.Identify and Communicate hazards or safety concerns to superintendents, general foremen, safety, and site managementPerform all other job-related duties as requested, directed or assignedActively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum of six (6) years or more of experience leading Welder crews in a refinery maintenance/turnaround/new construction environment.Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing prioritiesStrong understanding of craft work being supervised and knowledge of basic hand tools.Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments, results orientedAbility to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work under pressure to meet project schedules and deadlinesAbility to work non-routine hours, when necessaryAbility and willingness to travel as requiredMust be able to pass weld testMust be able to learn and maintain a good understanding of Matrix policies and procedures.Must be able to complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client/ Site Specific training.Must be able to pass background check.Must be able to obtain and maintain active status within required drug testing program. Physical RequirementsEmployee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and toolsEmployee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.Will work at slight heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms using the appropriate fall protection requirements.Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, wind for long periods of time up to 12 hours a day.Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.EEO/M/F/Disability/Vets/Affirmative Action EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
