SharePoint Architect/Developer
*SharePoint Developer – Sustainment & Modernization*
*Overview*
We are seeking a proactive, broadly skilled SharePoint Developer to sustain and enhance a legacy on-premises SharePoint dashboard platform that provides executive management with an enterprise-wide operational overview for a Federal client. The immediate focus is keeping this mission-critical platform stable, secure, and responsive to evolving executive needs; the longer-term focus is helping the program chart and execute a modernization path to current Microsoft 365 / SharePoint Online technologies. The ideal candidate combines deep on-premises SharePoint experience with a modern, versatile skillset, strong communication skills, and the initiative to identify and drive improvements without waiting to be asked.
*Duties*
* Sustain, maintain, and troubleshoot the existing on-premises SharePoint environment supporting executive dashboards, including sites, lists, libraries, workflows, custom web parts, and integrations.
* Monitor platform health, performance, and availability; diagnose and resolve issues; support patching, upgrades, and routine administration in coordination with infrastructure teams.
* Collaborate directly with stakeholders, including executive leadership, to gather requirements and translate them into dashboard enhancements and new capabilities.
* Enhance and extend existing dashboards and reports using JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SharePoint REST APIs, and client-side development techniques.
* Maintain and progressively remediate legacy components (e.g., InfoPath forms, SharePoint Designer workflows, classic web parts), replacing deprecated technologies with supportable modern equivalents.
* Support the program’s modernization roadmap, including assessment, planning, and migration of content and functionality toward SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
* Implement and maintain SharePoint security, permissions, and access controls in accordance with Federal security and compliance requirements.
* Adhere to Federal Government SDLC best practices, including documentation, change management, and Section 508 accessibility considerations.
* Provide responsive technical support and guidance to SharePoint users and site owners.
* Proactively identify risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities, and communicate recommendations clearly to program leadership.
*Required Skills*
* Extensive hands-on experience developing and administering on-premises SharePoint (SharePoint Server 2013/2016/2019 or Subscription Edition), including sites, lists, libraries, workflows, and custom web parts.
* Experience sustaining and troubleshooting legacy SharePoint solutions, including SharePoint Designer workflows and InfoPath forms.
* Proficiency in front-end web development: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and JSON/XML, with experience using SharePoint REST APIs and CSOM/JSOM.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server as it relates to SharePoint content and reporting.
* Experience with PowerShell for SharePoint administration and automation.
* Strong communication skills, including experience presenting to and supporting senior/executive leadership.
* Demonstrated initiative and versatility — a self-starter comfortable owning a platform end-to-end across development, administration, and user support.
* Experience gathering and managing requirements; familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
*Preferred Skills*
* Experience with SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365 and migrations from on-premises SharePoint.
* Power Platform experience: Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI for dashboards and workflow modernization.
* SharePoint Framework (SPFx) and TypeScript for modern web part development.
* Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
* Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD practices.
* Exposure to Azure services relevant to Microsoft 365 integration (e.g., Entra ID, Azure Functions).
* Prior experience supporting Federal Government clients and Federal SDLC/security compliance processes.
*Education*
* Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering preferred.
* Microsoft/SharePoint certification preferred.
