Lead Plumbing Technician

SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Plumbing Technician to oversee residential plumbing projects and serve as a technical expert in the field. This role leads the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems while ensuring high-quality workmanship and an exceptional customer experience.Primary responsibilities include water heater replacements, water filtration and treatment systems (including reverse osmosis and softeners), and other residential plumbing upgrades. This position also provides cross-functional support on HVAC-related tasks as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and perform installation, maintenance, and repair of residential plumbing systems, including water heaters and water treatment solutionsServe as the on-site project lead, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, on time, and to company standardsTrain, mentor, and support the development of junior technicians and apprenticesDiagnose complex plumbing issues and deliver effective, long-term solutionsEnsure all work complies with applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulationsCommunicate clearly with homeowners regarding system issues, solutions, and preventative maintenanceIdentify opportunities for system upgrades or additional services that align with customer needsPerform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to maximize system performanceMaintain accurate job documentation, service records, and material usageUphold safety standards and maintain clean, organized job sitesQualifications5+ years of residential plumbing experience (lead or supervisory experience preferred)Strong expertise in water heaters, filtration systems, and water treatment solutionsProven ability to train and mentor others in a field environmentExcellent communication and customer service skillsExperience with software such as Microsoft Office, ServiceTitan, Salesforce, or similar platformsWillingness to pursue continued education or certifications (e.g., State Plumbing License, Journeyman Certification, EPA Certification, Water Treatment Certification)OSHA and CPR certifications preferredKnowledge & SkillsAdvanced knowledge of residential plumbing systems, codes, and safety regulationsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesWorking knowledge of HVAC systems is a plusAbility to manage projects and adapt in dynamic jobsite environmentsPhysically capable of working in confined or challenging conditionsTechnical ExpertiseSkilled in pipe fitting, cutting, threading, and welding using manual and power toolsExperience with modern plumbing technologies (tankless water heaters, smart water systems, eco-friendly fixtures)Proficient with plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment, including video inspection toolsKnowledge of proper sanitation and safe waste disposal practicesAbility to identify customer-focused upgrade opportunitiesWhat Sets You ApartStrong leadership mindset with the ability to motivate and guide a teamCustomer-focused approach with the ability to educate and recommend solutionsEffective time management and ability to handle multiple projectsProfessionalism and strong work ethicWork EnvironmentField-based role at residential job sitesPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periodsComfortable working in confined spaces and at heightsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsMust be able to distinguish color-coded systems and components
