Job Description
Seneca Resources is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to support complex and high-impact projects across public works, transportation, commercial, energy, communications, and industrial sectors. This is an opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer with 5–8 years of experience to take ownership of projects, mentor junior staff, and expand leadership capabilities while delivering high-quality geotechnical solutions.

You will lead field investigations, perform advanced geotechnical analysis and design, develop technical reports, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex soil and foundation challenges.

Key Responsibilities
Geotechnical Engineering & Technical Leadership
Lead and perform geotechnical investigations , subsurface exploration, and field observation activities.
Conduct advanced soil mechanics analysis , foundation design, slope stability analysis, and earthwork recommendations.
Evaluate and interpret laboratory and field data for inclusion in technical reports.
Prepare and review detailed geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, and specifications.
Provide engineering recommendations and resolve design and construction challenges.
Project Management & Client Engagement
Manage project scope, schedule, and budget for moderate-complexity projects.
Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and technical scopes of work.
Communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates to clients and project stakeholders.
Collaborate with senior project managers on larger and more complex initiatives.
Participate in marketing, business development, and client relationship management efforts.
Quality, Safety & Team Development
Ensure compliance with safety standards, participate in pre-task planning, and promote a culture of safety.
Perform quality control reviews of proposals and reports.
Supervise and mentor graduate engineers, field staff, and project engineers.
Serve as a technical advisor to junior team members.
Support continuous quality improvement across projects and deliverables.
Required Skills/Education
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred).
5–8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering , including field investigations and foundation design.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with 1–2+ years of post-licensure experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience in:
Geotechnical analysis and design
Soil mechanics and subsurface investigations
Foundation and earthwork recommendations
Technical report writing
Proposal development and cost estimating
Project management and client communication
Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
