Senior Linux Systems Administrator (Government)

Provides operations and design support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages Linux, Unix and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity, and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance; works with other local and remote systems administrators – must be a team player and self-starter who can work independently with little to no direct supervision or administration oversight.Sr. Linux/Unix EngineerRequired: Ability to work independently and learn new technologies Required: RedHat (RHEL) server builds/management Required: Yum repository builds/management Required: Kickstart builds/management Required: Logical Volume Manager Required: LDAP / Central Authentication Required: NFS share builds/management Required: VMware data stores build/management Required: Ability to troubleshoot and analyze Linux/Unix systems and networks efficiently Required: NetApp Experience Planning/Deploying Storage Required: Patch Cycle Management pref. with regression testing experience Desired: Samba Linux/Windows directory management Desired: Disaster Recovery and Contingency Planning technologies planning/management Desired: Ability to lead projects start to finish (design, configure, test, deploy, document) Desired: IT Service Management experience in operational environments Desired: Familiarity with CNSSI 1253 and/or NIST 800-53, Version 4 Six (6) years’ experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required. Qualified candidates above 10 years may be considered for Level 3 Lead position and pay. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
